James Potter | Gryffindor | Sixth | Pureblood | Closed
James is an egomaniacal prick slowly coming to realize that he has to actually do something after Hogwarts, even if living off his inheritance is an appealing option. He, to the benefit of mankind, was born in 1960 to a wealthy family. He grew up spoiled rotten, being the only son, of the less-than-strict family regime under Charlus Potter, married to the beautiful Dorea Black. It took a number of years to conceive their first born (Charlus was relieved) son, and he grew up without any siblings, though often mingled with other Pureblood children. The Potters, unlike the Blacks, have always believed and rooted for mugglekind’s entrance to pureblood society, believing it would benefit wizards. His father, for one, was once particularly vocal about these claims, though has grown less passionate with age.
Sirius was the event that changed his life. James always was a rambunctious child (to put it nicely), but his friends encouraged him in ways he’d never expected. They complimented each other well, made the absolute best best mates; inflating each others egos and keeping them from going just a little bit too far. That time Sirius wanted to crush Marlene McKinnon in a long drawn out plot to have her fall in love and rip the rug out from under her after his parents kicked him out? Yeah, you’re welcome McKinnon. Lucky you’re a damn good chaser. From Sirius, Remus and Peter gravitated into their lives, and have become permanent residences in James’s heart, as Sirius so eloquently put it the night they hosted a Gryffindors Only Poetry Beat Jam Session (With Firewhiskey). The four form The Marauders, the unstoppable force behind everything fun in Hogwarts.
Lily Evans deserves her own chapter in a History of James Potter novel. Oh, Lily… How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Her bright red hair, captivating green eyes, quick wit, and her absolute sauciness make her irresistible to James. “I must have her” is a phrase that has been whispered by Padfoot in many a mimicry. He is determined to prove to her just how perfect they would be together, sometime in between the pranking and roping Remus into doing his Potions essays would be preferable.
