Quick Bio: If you were asked to describe Sybill Trelawney, most people would respond with ‘crazy’ or anything along those lines. But in reality, Sybill’s not crazy. Not that crazy anyway. She’s just very different with her large glasses and strange personality, and strongly believes she can tell the future.
It’s not like she hasn’t got anything to base that off, however-her great great grandmother was one of the greatest seers of her time, and her family has been teaching Sybill the ways for as long as she can remember. But the problem is, Sybill, along with most of her family, didn’t get any of those gifts.
Despite believing she was a seer, Sybill had a relatively normal childhood for a witch. She was surrounded by magic from a young age, as her parents were a witch and a wizard. She received her letter to Hogwarts at age eleven, was sent off and got sorted into Ravenclaw. From then on, her classmates, slightly creeped out by Sybill, tried to avoid her, and they’ve been doing so ever since. But Sybill doesn’t mind-she’s find spending her time alone in the Ravenclaw common room with a book on fortune telling, some tea leaves and her cat, Salamander.
Sample (two paragraphs):
Sybill headed down the halls, her arms full of numerous books, most of which weren’t even for class. She had been to the library again, getting as many books on the future as she could, even the ones she had read. The librarian had grown used to seeing her around all the time, although Sybill wasn’t sure the librarian approved of her, considering the funny look she gave Sybill all the time. Not that it mattered to the blonde, however. People tended to be afraid of the gift, their fear of such a power being around consuming their belief. The way Sybill saw it, there was no point in avoiding the gift-it wasn’t very logical.
A large image suddenly appeared in Sybill’s mind and she shrieked, causing the students around her to jump back. Ignoring her books scattered all over the floor, Sybill glanced around the hallway quickly, looking for the person who was in grave danger. She spotted a trembling first year and jumped at them, clutching their robes desperately. “You are in grave danger!”
Sybill expected the first year to accept his horrible fate and thank her for warning them, but instead the small boy dashed over, leaving a frowning Sybill and a hall full of either scared or laughing classmates behind. Blinking, Sybill turned away and started to head towards her books, when she heard her name being called out. Ah. McGonagall. Yet another person afraid of the sight.
