Quick Bio:
Hestia has never exactly been known for being calm or collected. She’s loud, cheerful, and usually friendly. She’ll try and cheer you up when you’re feeling down, but if she fails she’ll sit under the rainclouds with you. She’s extremely loyal, and if you befriend her, she’ll expect you to be friends for life. However, if you break her trust, she’s not likely to ever forgive you. She’ll stand up for what she believes in, and expects others to do the same.
Hestia’s mother was a witch, and her father was a muggle, but they loved each other so Hestia was perfectly happy. Unfortunately, her mother died when she was fairly young, leaving Hestia with her muggle father and older sister. Both girls received their Hogwarts letters and were sorted into Hufflepuff in their respective years. Hogwarts was like a magical haven for the young Hufflepuff, she loved to meet the other students and see magic at work. The magic made her feel closer to her mother, so even though many classes seem tedious to the girl, she muddles on through. Sample (two paragraphs):
Quidditch wasn’t exactly the best use of an afternoon, at least not to Hestia. Still, she did love yelling her opinions with the rest of the crowd, no matter how little she actually knew of the sport. The house pride was a big thing here, too, and this always got her points with her housemates. Mostly though, she came to watch her sister. She’d never admit that, of course not, but that didn’t make it less true. She loved watching her older sibling swishing around in the air, somehow graceful even when straddling a broom. They all were, each player somehow graceful while zooming through the frigid air at ridiculous speeds. She’d do it herself, if she had any talent for such a thing. Sure, she could hop on a broom and make it move, but it wasn’t a pretty sight and no way could she duck a bludger like that, so siree.
So rather then live the action, Hestia sat in the stands, screaming like the mad woman she was as blurs of her team colours whizzed on by. She’d cheer extra loudly when her sister’s form became visible, but not so loudly that anyone would notice a change. She couldn’t have anyone going off and telling Gwen she actually had a fan, no that would do no good. To make up for any lack of cheering, Hestia would gladly throw in a ‘boo’ or two at the other team, even going so far as to stick her tongue out at a slow-moving seeker.
When the game finished—a close win for Hufflepuff—Hestia made her way down the stands quickly, an extra spring in her step. It had been a very good game for Gwen, and Hestia was rushing to the field in an attempt to catch her older sister before she entered the changing rooms. She managed to make to ground in record time, startling a first year into tripping in the process. She yelled a hasty ‘Sorry!’ over her shoulder, and hurried on.
Hestia seemed to be in luck as she reached the field just as the Hufflepuff team was heading out. She scurried over to their position, beaming at everyone she passed and rattling off a string of congratulatory phrases. When she reached her sister, her smile dimmed slightly, and she nodded her head once. “Gwen. Good game.” She told the older girl calmly, fighting the urge to slap her sister on the back. She couldn’t be too enthusiastic, Gwen’s head would be likely to grow. It seemed she could’t help it though, and her smile brightened again as she flung her arms around her sister.
“That was awesome! There was—the swishing! And you just—Boosh! And the crowd was like—Ahhh!” Hestia rambled as she clung to her sister happily, her enthusiasm obvious. “Oh god, you stink.” She told the other girl, promptly removing herself from their hug. “Oh, wow. Does that always happen? Now I remember why I don’t play.” Hestia shook her head with a snarky grin, waving her sister off. “Go change before you choke someone with your fumes.” She said with a wink, turning from her sister before she had a chance to reply and scampering towards the rest of the retreating Hufflepuffs.
